Today’s MVP is actually our first MVV. In honor of the great Jackie Robinson and the day that is celebrated as his own, we are posting the infamous video of Jackie Robinson stealing home in the 1955 World Series and Yogi Berra’s irate reaction. Mr. Robinson, THANK YOU for everything you did for baseball and AMERICA. You’re a true national hero. By the way, was he safe???
Today’s MVP was taken last night in Sacramento, which was the site of possibly the Sacramento Kings’ last game in that arena and in that city. The Kings are likely to move to Anaheim next year. Die-hard Sacramento Kings fans came out in full force last night to show their appreciation for their team.
Today’s MVP is a cartoon courtesy of ESPN.com. The 2011 NHL Playoffs kickoff today and this year’s playoffs should be no different from any other year, jam-packed with excitement, big hits, Triple-OT game-wining goals, unbelievable saves from super-human goalies, unlikely heroes, grotesque beards, and much, much more. Let the playoffs begin!!!
Our MVP of the day is a photo of former Alabama Crimson Tide wide receiver Julio Jones working out at the NFL Combine and preparing for draft day on April 28th. The NFL season is still in limbo and it’s a possibility we may not have a season this year, but that isn’t stopping incoming rookies from training as hard as they ever have to secure a spot on a NFL roster. Keep up the hard work gentleman and hopefully things will work themselves out. Good luck!
Today’s MVP is a snapshot of New York Rangers’ players Marc Staal and Derek Stepan hanging out with Washington Capitals’ players Alexander Ovechkin and Mike Green at the 2011 All-Star game. Thanks to a big win against bitter rivals, the New Jersey Devils, and with some help from the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Rangers snuck in to the last spot of the playoffs on the last game of the season. Last year the Rangers were eliminated form playoff contention by losing a shootout on the last game of the season, this year they get to face off against the #1 seed Capitals in the 1st round. Their fate wasn’t in their hands on the last day of the season but that didn’t stop the Rangers from giving it their all against the Devils and that hard work paid off. Good luck on your return to the playoffs gentleman!
Today’s MVP is a shot of Tiger Woods practicing yesterday for this weekend’s Masters at Augusta National. Tiger’s game has been a far cry from his once dominant play, but with enough practice and dedication, Tiger just may be able to turn it around and reclaim his throne at the top of the golfing mountain and have another green jacket tailored to his exact measurements.
Hard work has paid off yet again. The University of Connecticut men’s basketball team is the 2011 NCAA National Champions. They went up against the odds and turned a rocky season into a championship one. UCONN went undefeated in all tournament games this year; a truly incredible feat. Congratulations to Coach Calhoun, Kemba Walker, and the rest of the Huskies!
Today’s MVP is a photo of Amar’e Stoudemire cutting to the hoop last night against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Last night, the New York Knicks finally snapped an embarrassing 3-game losing streak to the Cleveland Cavaliers this year, but more importantly, the Knicks CLINCHED a playoff spot for the first time since 2004. Keep pushing gentleman and best of luck in the playoffs!
VCWho? Today’s MVP is a snapshot of the VCU Rams accepting their Southwest Regional Championship trophy and ticket to the NCAA Final Four. That’s right VCU. Who would have thought? Not many gave the 11 seed a chance at winning their opening-round game, let alone fight their way all the way to the Final Four. More proof that hard work and always believing in yourself truly pays off! Congrats and best of luck gentleman!!!
